Dan Saelinger Joins Our Roster With Playfully Inventive and Eye Catching Imagery

Dan Saelinger says his job as a photographer and director is to “make your life easier and your project extraordinary”. Having seen his work throughout his career and working on projects with him, we can vouch that both of these things are true. And, we are excited to announce that we are now representing Dan, bringing his playful imagery and strong work ethic to you and your clients.

His imagery is colorfully inventive and Dan is experienced in stills, motion, CGI direction and generative AI imagery. We can’t wait to share more with you but until then, read on to learn a bit more about Dan and see some of his work.

What are you known for in your work?

Being a problem solver. I photograph all sorts of things but the underlying current that connects it all is solving visual conundrums and figuring how to create particular images.

Describe your photography style in 3 words.

Colorful, Playful, Curated.

Describe a project you worked on that pushed you out of your comfort zone.

A few years back I was brought on to photograph a large holiday campaign for AT&T. The client liked my use of color and the graphic image quality of my work. While I had photographed people before this was my first large scale “lifestyle” campaign with multiple talent interacting and a daily shot list and set way larger than my typical 4ft table top still life shoots. I remember walking on set at 8 am to a crew of over 60 people or so and just taking a deep breath and picking up the camera and just directing everything. It was a blast - working with a great team of people and directing talent in a variety of scenarios. There was just so much kinetic energy in the studio. I was able to shoot so much looser than normal which was incredibly freeing. The days were long and incredibly frantic - but it all came out great and was a huge growth experience.

What do you always have on hand on a shoot?

An Aviator Nation hoodie and a latte.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

Not sure exactly how a collaboration would pan out - but I’m currently obsessed with Dennis Villeneuve. I remember watching Bladerunner 2049 and being enamored with the visual sensibility, sound design, and its incredible color palette of neons and reds.  I just saw DUNE 2 a few weeks back and was blown away. The guy knows how to build a frame and sense of space like no other.

What is the one thing people don't know about you?

I’m an avid player of pinball.

What is your favorite thing to do on a Sunday?

Wake up early, sit outside and drink coffee while reading the NY Times

What’s your word for 2024?
