Capturing Real Moments: Claire and Jeremy Weiss's Dream Job with HSS in New York City

A recent collaboration with the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City and the CPB Group was a dream job for Claire and Jeremy Weiss of Day19. Together they created broadcast commercials and a print campaign to promote the hospital. Everything from the creative to the production to seeing the work displayed throughout New York City including during the Wimbledon finals made this a dream job.

The duo's skill in capturing authentic human moments made them an ideal choice for this campaign. Each individual featured in the project was a real patient with genuine experiences at HSS; and their recovery journeys were truly inspiring. Claire and Jeremy expertly used their ability to create a comfortable environment, allowing the strength and determination of these individuals to shine through as they shared their stories of resilience and the pivotal role HSS played in their recovery.

Since Claire and Jeremy shoot alongside each other, it adds a whole other element to the shoot. Because the two are so comfortable with each other, it fosters an environment where talent can let their guard down. They also provide both a female and male perspective that builds deeper connections with their talent and varied content.. With this approach, Claire and Jeremy were able to capture the moments from different angles, making sure every detail of the scene was covered. The result? A lively, multi-layered story that captures the moment from all sides, giving HSS tons of options for telling their story.

One particularly memorable moment was being invited into the OR to document a knee replacement surgery. With just Jeremy and his DP, they saw firsthand the intensity, precision, care, and professionalism of the moment which was one Jeremy would not soon forget.

For the extensive motion content required, the team relied on their trusted DP partner to shoot motion while Claire and Jeremy directed and shot stills simultaneously.  This allowed for stills from multiple angles to be shot continuously and uninterrupted by motion breaks, leading to a high quantity of work and various perspectives.

Working with the creative team and the client contributed so much to the success of the campaign. The collaborative energy before the shoot and on set ensured a seamless transition from the initial concept to the final product.
